City Hangouts – Baba ka Dhaba

A Perfect Dhaba. Neat, Clean and Shinning. What is on the menu: Doodhpati, Baqarkhani, bun kabab, cholay, naan and more. This is Baba ka dhaba for you. Opposite South City Hospital’s entrance, at one end of the nursery, It has to be the most beautiful dhaba in Karachi. It is managed by a Baba thus getting its name. However South City admin certainly play some role in excellent management of the dhaba.

You may miss the location coming from Park towers towards South City Hospital. It is visible from both ends of the island but approach it from Hospital’s entrance. Trees make canopy over sitting area. Seats are new and spotless. The counter is new and properly painted. Chai is standard dhaba variety and prices are quite reasonable for the area. It is open from seven in the morning till nine in the evening. Mostly attendants and drivers are found here, eating and chilling, but slowly and gradually the dhaba has been attracting crowd from surrounding areas also.

The place is set to become a Karachi walla’s favorite. It’s a perfect getaway for an idle mind. For watching the cars speed away, leaving a colorful trail of lights on the camera sensor. You can sit here all day long and wonder why everyone is in rush, in a hurry to reach from Point A to Point B and then onto another point somewhere in the fabric of space and time. You can wonder at the frivolousness of our ambitions and actions, principles and opinions, rallies and slogans. Jab ke tujh bin nahin koi maujood. Phir yeh hangama ae khuda kia hai.

It costs you fifteen at the dhaba for a sip of inspiration. Value for Money! What Else.
