The Karachi Walla was at Aamir Habib’s, the talented Karachi based sculptor. His personal space is situated somewhere in Clifton Block 2. A visual artist essentially, Aamir has graduated from Indus Valley School with specialization in Sculpture and Photography. He has exhibited his work in some of leading local galleries such as Canvas Gallery, Koel Gallery, V.M Art Gallery, Art Chock and IVS Gallery. He has participated in international shows in SCOPE Basel and Abu Dhabi Art Fair as well.
Originally from Kohat, Aamir has seen and known different parts of the country very well. Probably the reason that when he comments on socio-political issues in his work, it reflects as an authentic and genuine narrative as opposed to fleeting superficial impressions of the society. Mountains, clouds, smoke and lights are used intricately as metaphors to deep lying social and political undercurrents.
Aamir’s personal space is delightful on senses. The art is everywhere. Some of his and some of his friends. It is well supplemented by collectibles that he has picked up from various flea markets across the city. The ‘Ghost’ catches your eye and imagination and you could also drool over his immense collection of LPs. His balcony is dotted with a variety of cactus and other plants. The lights are used expertly to create a dazzling effect. He has dedicated on of his rooms as work space.
