City Shopping – Buying books at Frerehall

Shakespeare consolidated. Life of PI Illustrated. Ramayan translated. Yusfi essays combined. Memoirs of Che Guevara showcased. Tom Sawyer’s adventures merged in one. Chicken Kiev’s recipe selling at one end and Manto looking from another. Buying books at Frerehall is one hell of an experience. One you cannot judge by mundane standards. The books you find here can be found elsewhere but nothing can beat buying them here. At Frerehall.

We have lost much in war on terror. Frerehall among them once. It was handed back only in the first quarter of 2011. Book mela which was a regular feature of Frerehall in 90s and it attracted scores of people. Finally it resumed few weeks back. A lot of people are still not aware though. One reason being the closure of Fatima Bonus road where the actual entrance of Frerehall is. You can reach there by driving past Marriott, taking a U turn before Metropole crossroad and finally driving through Frerehall onto the Fatima Bonus road. There is ample parking inside the boundary wall. Go there after 12:00. Unlike Sunday Bazaar and Regal chowk book stalls, Frerehall stalls get setup by noon. Most of the bookshop keepers setup stall at many locations across the city but according to them the content and quality of books is the best at Frerehall. The reason: It has been the destination of serious book lovers. Well, you should be there on a Sunday even if you are not a book lover. There is much more to do in this vicinity. Find it below.
